The Kansas City Chiefs stunningly traded star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.

While the Chiefs added a significant amount of draft capital with their trade of Hill- five picks- they also created a large hole in their wide receiver room.

On Thursday, the Chiefs found their Hill replacement for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Tom Pelissero reports that the Chiefs have agreed to terms on a free agent contract with former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Valdes-Scantling signed a three-year deal worth $30 million with the Chiefs. He stands to make $18 million in the first two years, with the potential for incentives to reach $36 million.

That is quite the payday for a wideout who has never even exceeded 700 receiving yards in four seasons in the NFL. However, Mahomes and the Chiefs needed another wideout- specifically a deep threat- after trading away Hill.

Valdes-Scantling certainly fits the bill in that regard, as he was the only ball-carrier who was clocked faster than Hill on a single play in the last two seasons, as noted by Pelissero.

The former Packers wideout has also scored touchdowns of at least 60 yards in each of his four seasons, so he is fully capable of being a downfield deep threat for Mahomes. He'll join a wide receiver room that now includes JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, and Josh Gordon.

While Valdes-Scantling doesn't even come close to Hill in terms of ability, he can still help the Chiefs to replace some of the speed they lost in the trade.
