Anthony Hitchens came up with a huge play for the Kansas City Chiefs on Super Bowl Sunday, as he denied the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from scoring their second touchdown of the game in the second period of the contest.

The Bucs were on a fourth-and-goal attempt and were in a great position to increase their lead over the defending champs. Hitchens, however, had other ideas (h/t NFL on Twitter):

The Chiefs were in a precarious situation and in danger of letting the Bucs mount a significant lead early in the second period. A second touchdown for Tom Brady and Co. — who themselves opened their account via a vintage Tom Brady-Rob Gronkowski connection in the first quarter of play — could have spelled disaster for Kansas City. Thankfully for them, the Chiefs had Hitchens to save the day.

Hitchens' denial could easily turn out as a game-saving play for the Chiefs. It turned the tide of the game, as the momentum swung in the direction of KC.

Hitchens, who himself had a COVID-19 scare back in December, has been one of the Chiefs' key players this season. Needless to say, the same can be said for the 28-year-old's early showing in the biggest game of the season.
