The Kanas City Chiefs went right to work adding another wide receiver after trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. They found one of Aaron Rodgers' old targets in Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who they signed to a three-year contract.

Patrick Mahomes' reaction to the Valdes-Scantling signing shows that he is ready to go to work with his new target. MVS is happy to get the opportunity with Kansas City, too.

Last season, Valdes-Scantling recorded 430 receiving yards, 26 catches and three touchdowns in 11 games. The 27-year-old won't come close to replicating Hill's production (very few players, if any, could do so) but he adds some solid depth to a Chiefs team that will hope to find a new WR1. Mahomes is making sure his new teammate feels at home by reaching out to him as he makes the transition.

Kansas City has plenty of opportunities to add to their receiving core with their 12 draft picks in April's draft. Several strong wide receivers have emerged via the draft in recent years and the Chiefs will greatly benefit from finding one. With Valdes-Scantling, Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster providing depth, the KC offense should continue to be strong with Mahomes leading the way.

Losing Hill shows that the Chiefs' are somewhat cash-strapped at the moment. Finding a strong wide receiver in the draft should be a big priority for them. The veterans they have are solid but none of them are good enough to be a leading receiver. With the right guy leading the way, though, the Chiefs could prove to have a very deep WR group.
