Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes indicated there is no real secret as to why Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce have had so much success in the playoffs.

Mahomes said the reason behind their success is simple: they get open.

The star quarterback had his first media session for Super Bowl LV on Thursday, saying both Hill and Kelce have done a terrific job of creating separation and adding he has not had to force any throws:

“They’re playing really good football right now. That’s the biggest thing,” Mahomes said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “I’m just taking what’s there, trying to get the ball to guys in space. I’m never someone that kind of chooses who I’m throwing to — I just throw it to whoever’s open. And so those guys have been getting open, I’ve been able to get them the ball. And I’m sure the Bucs have seen that as well, so I’m sure they’ll have a game plan to try to slow those guys down and we’ll have to adjust to that.”

Both Kelce and Hill have surpassed the 100-yard receiving mark in each of Kansas City's first two playoff games.

Kelce has 21 receptions (including three touchdowns) between the two contests, including 13 catches for 118 yards and a pair of scores in last weekend's win over the Buffalo Bills. Hill also torched Buffalo, racking up 172 yards on nine catches.

Needless to say, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' secondary will have its hands full with the Chiefs' offensive stars kicking things into high gear. Hill in particular is likely to be a big focus after “Cheetah” ripped the Bucs for over 200 yards in the first half alone during a Week 12 matchup between the two teams.
