It's been an oddly slow start to the season for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. They came from behind in Week 1 to take out the Cleveland Browns before losing narrowly in Weeks 2 and 3 to the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers, respectively.

Mahomes isn't used to being in this spot since he took over as the starter for the Chiefs in 2018. Despite the slow start, per Pro Football Talk, the former MVP is embracing this challenge.

“It’s exciting. Now you know you have to go,” Mahomes said. “We’ve put our back against the wall. So how are we going to respond? I think you’ll get the best out of everybody. You’ll get the best out of every person in this locker room because you know that it’s time to go now. Every game matters if you want to do what we want to do and I’m excited to see how these guys respond, myself included.”

The Chiefs have gone no worse than 12-4 in any season with Mahomes as the starting quarterback. Sitting at 1-2 early on plus the addition of a 17th game on the schedule this year, it will be a big test for Kansas City to stay under that threshold.

Of course, the 4-loss season isn't a goal of any for the Chiefs, the ultimate plan is to win the Super Bowl.

In Week 4, Kansas City will get a crack at a sputtering Philadelphia Eagles team that just gave up 41 points to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Expectations are for Mahomes and Co. to feast.
