Apple TV+ recently released the first teaser of the Jake Gyllenhaal-led series Presumed Innocent.

The show is a series adaptation of Scott Turow's 1984 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name. Gyllenhall is joined by Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Peter Sarsgaard and Lily Rabe.

The series will premiere on June 12 with two episodes.

Jake Gyllenhaal as Rusty

Presumed Innocent follows the story of Rožat “Rusty” Sabich, a chief deputy prosecutor. The teaser carries a dark undertone, with Rusty ruminates over his thoughts on love. Rusty presents as a man who has everything he could want. He has a good job and a loving wife Barbara (Negga) and children Kyle (Kingston Rumi Soutwick) and Jaden (Chase Infiniti). However, the rest of the video shows Rusty as wanting more.

His coworker Carolyn (Renate Reinsve) gives him that something more as they start a darkly steamy romantic affair. Everything starts to unfold when Carolyn is found murdered. While the teaser doesn't set him as the prime suspect, he does have skeletons in his closet that are just waiting to tumble out. Their affair, presumably secret, will most likely place him under suspicion. The show will unravel the mystery of who killed Carolyn and uncover Rusty's secrets as the limited series unfolds.

Rounding out the ensemble cast are O-T Fagbenle (Nico Della Guardia, district attorney candidate), Elizabeth Marvel (Lorraine Horgan) and Bill Camp (District Attorney Raymond Horgan, Rusty's boss).

Eleven-time Primetime Emmy Award winner David E. Kelley wrote the script with Miki Johnson and Sharr White. Kelly is famous for writing the shows Big Little Lies, Goliath, Boston Legal, Ally McBeal and many others.

Gyllenhaal also served as executive producer alongside J.J. Abrams, known for his television hits Lost and Alias as well as his films such as 2009's Star Trek, its 2013 sequel Star Trek: Into Darkness, as well as 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Presumed Innocent was previously adapted into a feature film in 1990 starring Harrison Ford and the late Raul Julia.

Gyllenhaal most recently starred in the storied Prime Video remake Road House with former UFC champion Conor McGregor. He will next be seen in the upcoming Guy Ritchie film In the Grey with Henry Cavill and Eiza González.
