Through the first two games of the season, Kansas City Chiefs second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes has gotten off to a blazing start leading the team to a hot start behind his stellar performance.

In light of that, Mahomes has given much credit to his huge amount of success to head coach Andy Reid's tutelage and confidence in him to take the system, according to Peter King of NBC’s Football Morning in America.

“What’s happened speaks to coach [Andy] Reid and everything he’s taught me in the last year,” the younger Mahomes said. “He’s prepared me to go out and play fast. In this system, if you can play fast, you can take advantage of things against the defense. And the talent and the legends I have around me—I’m just really trying to get the ball out of my hands and into these playmakers’ hands.”

This type of influence that Reid has had on Mahomes helped him get off to a tremendous start where he has shown his promising ability under center that has been put on display in the first two games of the season being the first player in league history to record 10 touchdown passes through two weeks. The 23-year-old simply had his way against the Pittsburgh Steelers picking them apart completing 23-of-28 passes for 328 yards with six touchdowns.

Mahomes has shown some great ability under center with his ability to make plays down the field with his arm along with some great accuracy on his throw. At the same time, he has taken advantage of the Pro Bowl talent around him in running back Kareem Hunt, wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins, and tight end Travis Kelce.

Nonetheless, Mahomes is in a promising position to where he could take the franchise to great heights that may see them become a legitimate Super Bowl contender this season and possibly well beyond it with him in place under center.
