For decades, the United States' most successful and inspirational athletes have been featured on boxes of Wheaties cereal. The U.S. Women's National Team, gold medal winners at the 2019 FIFA World Cup, is on the latest edition of Wheaties boxes, an acknowledgement of its ability to transcend the sporting world to capture the collective imagination of the country.

Apparently, that type of hallowed recognition wouldn't have been enough for Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback's very own cereal, Mahomes Magic Crunch, debuted at Kansas City-area grocery stores earlier this week, and is apparently flying off the shelves so quickly that boxes are being re-sold on Ebay for as much as $33 a pop.

Mahomes has yet to try the cereal, which he instructed local store Hy-Vee to make taste like a healthy version of Frosted Flakes, but is thrilled at the notoriety its raising for his foundation, 15 And The Mahomies.

“I'm excited for it,” he said, per ESPN's Adam Teicher. “I'm excited for everything that it's kind of doing. It's helping out my foundation, and now the fans are going out and buying it, so I appreciate all of them.”

Mahomes was absolutely dominant in 2018, throwing for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while competing 66 percent of his passes, ridiculous numbers only previously reached by future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning in his historic 2013 campaign. He won MVP for his efforts as a first-year starter, leading the Chiefs to the AFC Championship, where they lost a heartbreaker in overtime to the eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.
