The Cleveland Cavaliers will try to bounce back from a humiliating Game 1 loss as they face the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Thursday at the TD Garden. We're here to share our NBA odds series, make a Cavaliers-Celtics Game 2 prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Celtics destroyed the Cavaliers 120-95 in Game 1 to go up in the series. Amazingly, it was a 3-point onslaught as the Celtics' ability to hit from beyond the arc helped propel them to victory. Jaylen Brown had 32 points while also shooting 4 for 6 from the triples. Also, Derrick White had 25 points while making seven shots from beyond the arc.

Jayson Tatum delivered as usual, with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Likewise, Jrue Holiday had 14 points. Payton Pritchard came off the bench for 16 points.

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavs with 33 points while shooting 12 for 25, including 4 for 11 from the 3-point line. Meanwhile, Evan Mobley scored 17 points while shooting 8 for 12. Darius Garland had 14 points. Additionally, Isaac Okoro had 11 points. But the Cavs did not get any production from Max Strus, who had five points while going 2 for 8, or Caris LeVert, who had four points while going 2 for 6.

The Celtics won this game mainly by outshooting the Cavs. Specifically, they shot 48.9 percent from the floor, while the Cavs shot 41.1 percent. Additionally, the Celtics shot 39.1 percent from the 3-point line, while the Cavaliers were only 26.2 percent from the triples. The Celtics also dominated the boards 55-38, including 13 on offense. Then, they had seven blocked shots while the Cavs only mustered three.

Why The Cavaliers Could Cover The Spread/Win

Mitchell played well on offense. However, it is difficult to ignore the three turnovers. Mitchell also struggled to guard White properly. Unfortunately, Jarrett Allen did not play again, which left the Cavs without their best big man. Evan Mobley did his part, winning the battle with Al Horford. Overall, it was a solid offensive showing with 13 rebounds, but he also only had one block.

Darius Garland must find a way to improve on his shots from the triples. Also, he needs to become more efficient when guarding Holiday. Strus was awful on offense. Even worse, Brown and Tatum dominated him on the defensive end. That has to change if the Cavaliers are to have a chance against the Celtics.

But not having Allen available cost a great disparity on the boards. Unfortunately, Mobley could not pick up the slack. If Allen returns in Game 2, if will provide a good boost for them. If he cannot, someone must step up.

The Cavaliers will cover the spread if they can improve their shooting and defend the 3-point shot more efficiently. Then, they need to block more shots while also winning the board battle.

Why The Celtics Could Cover The Spread/Win

Brown was the best player on the court in Game 1. Despite missing some time during the regular season and even playing inconsistent basketball, he has woken up during the postseason and is taking charge for the Celtics. White shot the ball well. Additionally, he held his own while going up against Mitchell.

Tatum dominated when he had to. Subsequently, the Celtics needed him to take control in the last stages of the game, and that was exactly what he did. The Celtics overcame the loss of Kristaps Porzingis, who is week-to-week with a calf injury. Significantly, Horford stepped up on offense. But he could stand to improve on the boards, where he only generated eight rebounds.

But what made the Celtics so effective was their willingness to shoot the triple. Ultimately, they knew that not having Porzingis would give them a weakness, so they amended it by going from deep. While they were not completely efficient from the triples, they still hit 18 of their shot attempts from beyond the arc.

The Celtics will cover the spread if they can continue to find ways to shoot the ball efficiently. Then, they need to continue to play lock-down defense against the Cavs.

Final Cavaliers-Celtics Game 2 Prediction & Pick

At first, you might think the spread is too slanted in favor of Boston. But then you remember the Cavaliers have struggled on the road through the first four attempts in the playoffs. Somehow, the Cavs have lost by 20-0r-more points in three of four road playoff games. The only game they covered the spread on the road was Game 6 against the Orlando Magic. Can they make this interesting? It all depends on how their secondary players do. Mitchell could go off for 40 points, and it would not matter if the team behind him did nothing. Consequently, we believe that continues, at least in Game 2.
