There is one universal truth in football and that is that speed kills every day of the week and twice and Sunday. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce indicated that his team has taken this moniker quite seriously in recent years.

The Chiefs have done a stellar job of bringing in explosive players capable of taking the top off of the opposition as of late.

According to ESPN's Adam Teicher admits have so many burners around him makes his job much easier:

“You name it. We’ve got 4.2, 4.3, maybe 4.1. I don’t know what Tyreek runs now. Who knows? We’ve got guys that can absolutely fly all over the field,” Kelce said. “Speed kills in this game. If you’ve got it, you’re in the advantage. We’re taking it up a level [from] years past. You can just tell from the coaches’ excitement to their attention to detail to how guys are reacting to their coaching. This team is going to be awesome. We’re going to have a lot of fun on the offensive side of the ball.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Kelce's comments. Even when speedsters are held in check, the focus they draw from the defense makes it much easier for the other players on offense to take advantage.

It is safe to say that Kelce has reaped the benefits of being surrounded by explosive athletes like wide receivers Tyreke Hill and Sammy Watkins.

The four-time Pro Bowler is coming off a career year after finishing the 2018 campaign with 103 receptions for 1,336 yards, 10 touchdowns en route to effectively establishing himself as the NFL's premier tight end.

Kelce is hoping the arrival of another speedy wideout in Mecole Hardman will add yet another interesting dynamic to this offense in the 2019 NFL season.
