The Cleveland Browns are having quite an offseason. They just landed Deshaun Watson, a legitimately good quarterback, albeit with controversies still hounding him. The Browns could add to the waves they have been making in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft, where they will have a total of seven picks (as of this writing) to use in shoring up a roster that fell short of the lofty goals Cleveland had in 2021. With that said, here are three bold 2022 NFL Draft predictions for the Browns.

Browns Predictions for the 2022 NFL Draft

3. Cleveland gets Myles Garrett pass rush help in the second round

At the No. 44 pick, the Browns will certainly be not seeing the names of Aidan Hutchinson, Kayvon Thibodeaux, George Karlaftis, and Travon Walker available once Cleveland gets its turn much later in the second round. However, that doesn't;t mean they can't find a gem in the second round, where they can use a pick to get Myles Garrett help on the defensive front.

The Browns arguably have the best pass rusher in the game today in the form of Garrett, who just had a monster 2021 season. But even with Garrett prowling opposing quarterbacks and using his nearly unfair combination of speed, power, and size all to his advantage, the Browns still finished outside in both total sacks and sack rate; the Browns were tied with the Buffalo Bills with 38 sacks and were 11th with a 6.95 defensive sack percentage. And that's even with Jadeveon Clowney on the team.

Speaking of Clowney, he remains a free agent after jumpstarting his career with the Browns in 2021, coming up just half-sack away from tying his career-high total of 9.5 sacks in a season, which he had when he was still with the Houston Texans. Takk McKinley is another defensive end who is still a free agent after recording 2.5 sacks with the Browns in 2021. Although it is still believed that Clowney would ultimately end up re-signing with the Browns, he's an injury-prone player, who's also less than a year away from hitting 30.

Guys like Arnold Ebiketie, Kingsley Enagbare, and Drake Jackson could still be available in the second round, so the Browns might have their eyes on them.

2. Browns select a quarterback

The Browns just bet the farm on Deshaun Watson, so why would they take a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft? Surely, the keys to Cleveland's offense are now in the hands of Watson. Plus, the Browns still have Baker Mayfield. In addition to those, the Browns also signed veteran Jacoby Brissett to a one-year deal this offseason. But in a lot of ways, moves made by NFL teams come of nowhere and don't make much sense, especially if that team is Cleveland. With Watson, even with the tremendous investment the Browns spent to get him out of Houston, they must have more than just a sliver of concern that the quarterback's off-field issues will ultimately ruin his stint in Cleveland. All things considered, the Browns took a risk in Watson, a move that alienated Mayfield, who might not even be in Browns uniform when Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season comes around. It's probably not a waste for the Browns to use a pick in the later rounds to select a quarterback, just to kick the tires on a player's potential. Skylar Thompson, Jack Coan, Brock Purdy, and D'Eriq King were big names in college the Browns could add to their master list ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft.

1.  Cleveland trades Baker Mayfield to the Seahawks and gets a pick again in the first round

The arrival of Watson in Cleveland signaled the end of the Mayfield “era” for the Browns, who have had its ups and downs with the former Oklahoma Sooners star. To get Watson from the Texans, the Browns had to cough up a bunch of future picks, including a 2022 first-rounder (13th overall), leaving Cleveland out of the picture on Day 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft. But the Browns are also still shopping Mayfield, perhaps with also the goal of securing a first-round pick.

The Seattle Seahawks are the most-linked team to a Mayfield trade and that remains to be true even after they signed Geno Smith to a $7 million contract. The Seahawks shipped Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos and now own Denver's ninth-pick overall in the upcoming draft. Part of the return for Seattle from that trade is Drew Lock, who's not exactly a quarterback who would excite a fanbase. Mayfield might be a polarizing prospect for the Seahawks, but at least he's got more experience with still some ceiling to explore — and unlock in a new environment.
