The L.A. Clippers have gone through many upheavals this past summer with much movement involving their roster and front office.

According to Brad Turner of the LA Times, the Clippers could be nearing another major move with working out a new contract extension with All-Star center DeAndre Jordan.

Jordan has become one of the core pieces of the team over the last several seasons, which has only been heightened by the departure of All-Star point guard Chris Paul. He is set to enter the third year of his four-year, $87.6 million deal that has a $24.1 million player option for the 2018-19 campaign.

The 29-year-old is coming off one of his most productive seasons where he averaged 12.7 points on a career-high 71.4 percent shooting from the field with 13.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.

There is now a much greater importance on signing Jordan to a long-term extension prior to the start of the season given that he can become an unrestricted free agent next summer if he declines the player option in the final year of his current deal. The loss of Jordan would be a major hit as he's the main piece to the puzzle defensively and consistent source of production on a nightly basis.

With the start of the regular season just a couple of weeks away, things could heat up on this front on both sides over that span.
