Colby Covington going off on other UFC fighters is nothing new. He is currently set to fight Jorge Masvidal but that hasn't stopped questions about Khamzat Chimaev from coming up.

Colby Covington recently sat down with Michael Bisping for an interview with BT Sport. The subject of Khamzat Chimaev was brought up and the UFC 272 headliner did not disappoint.

“Earn your way up and no problem – I’ll kick you right back down,” Covington said. “I love destroying hype trains. I’m going to destroy one hype train this weekend in (Jorge) Masvidal. He’s never going to be the same ever again and no one is going to care about his fights.”

Khamzat Chimaev will have the opportunity to work his way up with a fight against Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 in April. Colby Covington could very well find himself matched up against him if things go well in April.

“With cumshot (Chimaev), earn your way up,” Covington said. “Win some big, formidable fights and we can talk. But until then, stop trying to hype this kid up. These hype jobs they can get really hurt inside this octagon.”

UFC 272 will have plenty of Colby Covington as he takes on Jorge Masvidal in the main event. The grudge match has been years in the making and many are excited to see it happen.

There could potentially be a fight with Khamzat Chimaev awaiting the winner as they won't get a UFC title shot next. Saturday night should reveal what exactly is next for everyone going forward.
