The New England Patriots season seems to be spiraling downward in a way that they have not seen since quarterback Tom Brady went down with a season-ending knee injury years ago. With the recent news that wide receiver Josh Gordon is stepping away from football for another extended period, this further drives New England's troubles. Colin Cowherd shared his thoughts on New England's woes.

Cowherd is spot on regarding the Patriots lack of receiving help. Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski appear to be reaching the end of their careers. Phillip Dorsett has never lived up to any expectations, and Chris Hogan is greatly underwhelming after a solid 2017 season. The Patriots have had to turn Cordarelle Patterson into a multi-purpose type of player, and he has been much more effective as a running back.

Brady has done everything in his power that he can, but with no reliable help on offense, he has been fighting an uphill battle. The Patriots recently lost two consecutive games for the first time in a long time and their season has not looked very characteristic of the dynasty they have established. New England will surely crumble once Brady calls it quits and although he still looks like an elite level quarterback he can not do it all.

Brady would be long gone in the NBA as Cowherd stated, but since he has come this far with the Patriots, it's highly unlikely he'll ever wear another jersey especially at his age.
