The Ole Miss Rebels will face the Auburn Tigers in a classic SEC matchup on Saturday. It's time to continue our college football odds series and make an Ole Miss-Auburn prediction and pick.

This game is a crucial test for both of these teams. Ole Miss only has one loss on the season and it came against the Alabama Crimson Tide. It's fair to say that the Tigers are the second best team the Rebels have encountered so far, so a win here would go a long way in inspiring some confidence in the locker room and in the media. Auburn has survived a rough slate of opponents, but they're still looking for a signature win on the season. Scoring a win against a ranked SEC West opponent that is nearly winless would be much more than just a signature win. Both of these teams have plenty to play for, so this one should be entertaining.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the odds for Saturday's game.

Why Ole Miss Can Cover The Spread

While Ole Miss does enter this game with some injury concerns, they're still a one loss team with a potential Heisman Trophy winner playing quarterback for them. Signal-caller Matt Corral has been absolutely fantastic this season, passing for nearly 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns while only throwing one interception. The Auburn defense is clearly outmatched here, as they haven't been particularly good against opposing passers this season. Despite only facing 31 pass attempts per game, the Tigers allow 232 passing yards per game, ranking 70th in the nation. Auburn also doesn't pressure the quarterback well, so Corral should be able to rip the Tigers apart in this one.

One area that Ole Miss has struggled in is the red zone. The Rebels are currently only converting 87.5% of their scoring opportunities when they land inside an opponent's 20-yard line. That may seem like a high number, but it's only good for 47th in the nation. Luckily, the Tigers have been horrendous at forcing stops in the red zone. Auburn is allowing a red zone conversion rate of 95%, ranking 122nd in the nation.

Why Auburn Can Cover The Spread

Luckily for Auburn, Ole Miss doesn't have the defense to match its offense. The Rebels allow 30 points per game and 430 yards per contest, two numbers that are both among the worst in the nation. They also allow their opponents to convert third downs at a 40% rate, an incredibly high number. Auburn already converts third downs at an insanely good 44% clip, so getting the Tigers off of the field will be a tall task for the Rebels in this one.

The importance of home field advantage can't be understated in this game. The Tigers are 3-1 at home this season, with their only loss coming against the Georgia Bulldogs. Ole Miss has only played two road games this season, with one resulting in their lone loss of the season. Jordan-Hare Stadium will have every single seat full for this prime matchup, and that will have a huge impact on the game.

Final Ole Miss-Auburn Prediction & Pick

It's shocking to see the Rebels placed as underdogs in this game. Ole Miss should be a favorite here despite being on the road, so this is a pretty simple pick. Lock in Ole Miss and don't look back.
