The Texas A&M Aggies are set to face the Ole Miss Rebels this weekend. Check out our college football odds series, which includes our Texas A&M-Ole Miss prediction, odds, and pick.

The Texas A&M Aggies have dramatically turned around their season. They lost twice in September to Arkansas and Mississippi State. Neither of those games was a true road game. Arkansas was a neutral-site contest, and Mississippi State won in College Station. A&M barely beat a bad Colorado team. Backup quarterback Zach Calzada struggled in place of the injured Haynes King, and the Aggies looked lost.

Then came the Alabama game, which changed the season and everything about the 2021 Aggies. Calzada played a brilliant game. The offensive line sprang to life. The defense stood tall in the red zone and made timely plays. The Aggies and Jimbo Fisher took down Nick Saban, the first time any former Saban assistant had beaten the best coach in the country. Keep this in mind when making a Texas A&M-Ole Miss pick.

Since then, A&M hasn't looked back. The Aggies haven't lost a game. They just defeated Auburn with a masterful defensive performance, holding Auburn to just three points. If Alabama does lose another game — and the Iron Bowl in Auburn offers a distinct possibility that might happen — Texas A&M could win its first-ever SEC West Division championship by winning out. This trip to Oxford is dangerous, but if the Aggies survive it, their division title chances will rise. Those who study college football odds know this.

Ole Miss has made a very different journey in 2021, relative to A&M. The Rebels lit up scoreboards in September and were racing past the opposition. Then came a rough outing against Alabama, which set in motion a difficult October in which the Rebels got pounded. Quarterback Matt Corral got hurt. The team didn't fall apart, but the offense lost a lot of its zip and potency. The season has become a hard slog for coach Lane Kiffin, who has done a reasonably good job but faces noticeable limitations on offense. The Rebels need to find a second wind on offense which will give the team a strong finishing kick in November.

Why Texas A&M Could Cover the Spread

The Ole Miss offense just isn't what it was in September. Ole Miss scored over 60 points against Tulane and easily glided past Louisville in Week 1. Matt Corral looked like an early Heisman Trophy contender. Then the schedule got tougher, and Ole Miss ran into physical opponents who hit Corral and made sure every yard was hard-earned. The Rebels have looked worn down in recent weeks, their 31-20 loss to Auburn being a representative example. Ole Miss will have a tough time handling Texas A&M's defensive front, which held Auburn's offense to three points this past weekend. A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko has the personnel needed to keep Kiffin's less-than-fully-healthy offense under wraps.

Why Ole Miss Could Cover the Spread

The Rebels know that Zach Calzada got hurt against Auburn. The injury wasn't severe, but it was enough to briefly take Calzada out of the game. If Calzada is ineffective, A&M would have to go to its No. 3 quarterback or simply try to stick it out with an injured signal-caller. A&M scored just 20 points against Auburn. If the Aggies can't score at least 27 points in this game, it might not be enough. Include that thought process in your Texas A&M-Ole Miss prediction.

Final Texas A&M-Ole Miss Prediction & Pick

The game is a coin flip, since both quarterbacks are banged up and it's hard to know which way that variable is going to break on Saturday. The better play is to simply go with the under, since these two offenses are not firing on all cylinders. A&M's defensive line should feast against Ole Miss' offensive front. If Calzada is limited by his injury, A&M won't score much even if he plays the whole game.

Final Texas A&M-Ole Miss Pick: Under 57.5
