Colt McCoy is ready to make his return to the NFL field after suffering a brutal leg injury last season. Now that he has been cleared to play, the Washington Redskins wasted no time naming him the starting quarterback for their Week 5 matchup against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Some were surprised by the decision from head coach Jay Gruden, while others expected this move.

Dwayne Haskins took over at quarterback last week against the New York Giants and promptly threw the first three interceptions of his young career. It was obvious that he was not ready to play at this level. Learning from the sidelines will help him in the long run.

McCoy, on the other hand, has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his career thus far. Maybe, this season will be the year that he can show consistency.

All of that being said, here are three bold predictions for the Redskins quarterback this week against the Patriots.

3. He Will Throw Two Interceptions

Unfortunately, McCoy is not going to have a perfect return to the field against a tough New England defense. McCoy is going to make some mistakes and the Patriots are going to take advantage of them.

There are going to be ups and downs throughout this week's game for McCoy. He is rusty and still hasn't taken his first big hit since the injury. By the end of the game, he will have thrown two interceptions.

2. McCoy Will Throw for 300 Yards and Three Touchdowns

The Redskins may see their new starting quarterback throw two interceptions, but they will also see him have some big plays as well. McCoy will be able to move the football on the Patriots, racking up around 300 passing yards and three touchdowns.

McCoy has always shown the ability to make plays. He has a quality arm and great accuracy. New England won't be an easy team to move the ball against, but he is going to do a solid job.

1. Washington Will Compete with McCoy at Quarterback

Finally, the Redskins are going to surprise some people and make this week's contest a game. McCoy is going to find a way to make magic happen.

While the Redskins may not come out with the win, they are going to make the Patriots worry. McCoy is going to win the starting job for the time being and may be the man to help them get some wins the rest of the way. Fans in Washington are going to enjoy seeing McCoy under center.
