Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich announced that quarterback Andrew Luck will not participate in the team's joint practices on Wednesday and Thursday against the Cleveland Browns according to Mike Wells of ESPN.

Wells notes that Luck has only practiced three times since injuring his calf in April and there seems to be growing concern by the day about the injury.

Luck has already had three MRI's with the team trying to figure out what exactly is causing the pain. The team has said that there is no risk of making it worse by playing, but Luck is dealing with a level of pain that he isn't comfortable playing with.

“He is continuing to progress with his strength, which is awesome,” Reich said  after the team’s first preseason game via The Athletic. “There a degree of pain that he is not comfortable with, and obviously we are not comfortable with putting him out there.”

The plan all offseason has been to limit Luck during the preseason, maybe only playing him one game and then having him ready for the start of the season. It still seems that is the plan, but the team hasn't discussed if it's on track, or if he could miss some playing time.

If he can't go for week one, it will be Jacoby Brissett who will get the start, and he is a guy that the team has a lot of confidence in. The hope is they won't have to go down that road though, and Luck will be on the field September 8th against the Los Angeles Chargers.
