Carson Wentz will be rocking a new jersey number as he moves on to the Indianapolis Colts following five years of wearing no. 11 with the Philadelphia Eagles. With Michael Pittman Jr. locking up no. 11, Wentz will now sport the no. 2. The veteran quarterback explained how he landed at that particular number with his new squad.

“When the trade went down, I obviously reached out to Pittman right away. I said, ‘Hey, no pressure. Are you married to number 11?' He's like, ‘Yeah, I think so.' And I'm like, ‘Alright cool, no worries.'”

Well that wasn't too hard was it? Reports earlier surfaced about how Pittman Jr. straight up denied Wentz the chance to continue wearing no. 11. But obviously, the two had a very respectful, no-drama, and straightforward discussion.

Wentz dove deeper into why he ultimately chose no. 2. The 28-year old quarterback admitted he used to wear no. 20 back in high school. Of course, he won't be able to wear that as quarterbacks are designated with numbers 1 through 19.

Wentz revealed that he always wanted to wear no. 2 going into college. Unfortunately, he couldn't do so with somebody from North Dakota State already rocking the number. Therefore, he wore no. 11 in his four years in college and has sported it through his 5-year NFL career so far.

As Wentz mentioned, his new number should symbolize a fresh start for him with the Colts. This especially after a roller coaster of a final year with the Eagles. Wentz should get a great opportunity to establish himself once again as a star quarterback with Indianapolis.
