The Indianapolis Colts have ruled out linebacker Darius Leonard for their Week 4 home game against the Oakland Raiders, as coach Frank Reich told reporters on Friday, via USA Today's Kevin Hickey.

Leonard reportedly began feeling concussion-like symptoms after the team's Week 2 road win over the Tennessee Titans. Since then, the Colts have not employed his help for Week 3 and Week 4.

For the season, Leonard has tallied 18 combined tackles, a sack, a pass deflection, and a quarterback hit — all in two games of play. 2018’s Defensive Rookie of the Year and first-team All-Pro, Leonard is a leader for the Indianapolis defense.

With Leonard out, the Colts will likely retain the same strategy at linebacker. Last week, the team slid starting MIKE linebacker Anthony Wheeler to WILL linebacker. Rookie Bobby Okereke got the start at Wheeler's previous position. Fellow rookie E.J. Speed could see an uptick in snaps as well.

The Colts defense is a battered unit. Per their official team website, Leonard won't be the only starter sitting. Safety Malik Hooker is out with a knee injury suffered against the Falcons. Khari Willis will take his spot. In addition, versatile defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis is out with an ankle injury. Grover Stewart and Jihad Ward should help fill the void.

Indianapolis' injuries are worrisome as they try to keep pace with the Houston Texans in a tight AFC South. To do so, they'll have to beat the 1-2 Raiders, at Lucas Oil, with a roster devoid of some of it's best talents.
