The Indianapolis Colts have brought in another quarterback in the wake of Andrew Luck's shocking retirement from football. According to ESPN's Field Yates, free-agent signal-caller Brock Osweiler visited the Colts on Tuesday as the team does diligence on the league's available quarterbacks.

Osweiler spent last season with the Miami Dolphins. Though signed as a backup, he was called into action for seven games, starting five in relief of the injured Ryan Tannehill, Miami's incumbent starter. Osweiler threw for 1,247 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions last season while completing 63.5 percent of his passes.

A second-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2012, the Arizona State product was drafted as the heir apparent to Peyton Manning, who finished his legendary career by spending four seasons in the Mile High city, helping the Broncos to victory in Super Bowl 50. But Osweiler failed to live up to franchise-quarterback hype with the Broncos, leading him to sign a lucrative, multi-year contract with the Houston Texans in 2016. He proved insufficient as Houston's starting quarterback, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns, before returning to Denver as a backup the following season.

Indianapolis finds itself in a tough spot at quarterback after Luck's abrupt retirement on Saturday. Though former backup Jacoby Brissett is expected to be a solid starter, the Colts now need to find a viable second-stringer to keep their playoff hopes alive should their new starter go down with injury. Third-year pro Phillip Walker, undrafted in 2017, is currently second on Indianapolis' depth chart after spending last season with the team's practice squad.
