It has been an arduous road to recovery for Indianapolis Colts star quarterback Andrew Luck that has seen him deal with several setbacks along the way. However, he finally appears to be on the right path toward getting back on the field.

The 28-year-old has yet to throw a football at any point since over the last several months, but the organization has been quite optimistic about his recovery process. Team owner Jim Irsay has now voiced much confidence that Luck can lead the franchise to success on the field in the 2018 season, according to Mike Wells of ESPN.

“Only Andrew can decide how far away we are because he's a magic man,” Irsay said. “There's only a few magic men. You know who they are. I don't have to name them. If he's healthy and he's back, he makes up for a lot of deficiencies.

“Can he take you all the way? We'll have to see how [general manager] Chris [Ballard] is in plugging some of the holes, particularly on defense. But when you have a guy like that, it's hard to say how many deficiencies he can cover up because he's special. You guys have seen it.”

These recent comments from Irsay give off the sense that the franchise holds the firm belief that Luck will be on the field for the 2018 campaign. The Colts also made that quite clear with the how they drafted with two out of their top three draft picks being offensive lineman while also taking a pair of running backs and wide receivers with their later round selections.

There is finally a real sense that Luck will be back in the fold to lead the team back to relevancy in the league. When healthy, he has proven to be one of the game's best quarterbacks that can lead the team to success behind his arm, which he did with three straight playoff appearances in each of his first three years in the league.

With there still being several months left in the offseason, that should provide Luck plenty of time to get his body right to step back into the fold after a one-year absence.
