The Green Bay Packers have not been known for their defense in recent years, and it's clear Green Bay could use some more reliable playmakers on the defensive unit.

There are several players providing a bit of uncertainty for the Packers going forward in regards to their linebackers corps. Clay Matthews' is an unrestricted free agent heading into the 2019 offseason and Nick Perry was unhealthy and appeared to lose a step last season. Although Kyler Fackrell was a tremendous bright spot for the Packers in 2018, Green Bay needs help and reliable to complement Fackrell.

One player that could be an immediate difference maker for the Packers is Baltimore Ravens longtime player, Terrell Suggs.

Suggs holds Ravens records for most career sacks (132.5), and most career forced fumbles (35) and has been an unbelievable force on the defensive end even in recent years. Suggs is a year removed from a double-digit sack season with 11.0 and this year he had his highest passes defended total since 2011 with six.

Suggs has been very reliable throughout his career in terms of staying healthy injured plagued seasons in 2012 and 2015. Suggs suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season and missed the remainder of the season. Suggs came back in 2016 and played 15 games, looking like he did not miss a step after a serious injury as he totaled eight sacks and three forced fumbles. Despite the injury happening in his 13th career, Suggs has been on the field for 47 of a possible 48 games and still plays with incredible intensity each week.

Considering Suggs' age, his future with any team going forward likely won't be a long term type of deal. The 16-year veteran still plays the game at a high-level and could make a great deal of an impact with a team like the Packers. Suggs could be a fantastic complement to defensive tackle Mike Daniels and Fackrell, and if the Packers decide to resign Muhammad Wilkerson, the defensive front could be a very solid unit.

The Packers definitely do not have the defensive unit that they back in 2011 when they won the Super Bowl. However, they have been doing their part in recent years by addressing needs through the drafting process and have added some promising talent over the years. Suggs could help reignite some fire back into the Packers defense and bring forth his intensity to Lambeau Field.
