Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton is searching for a new contract. The talented wideout signed a 4-year, $60.8M pact in 2021, and is now looking for a significant pay raise. Despite staying committed to getting a new deal, Sutton was in attendance for Broncos mandatory minicamp this past week. The prior week, Sutton was not in attendance for voluntary workouts.

“The point had been made already,” Sutton told reporters, via the Associated Press. “I'm hoping that we're able to find a solution … because this is where I want to be, and I'm just hoping that it's mutual.”

Sutton is coming off of a career-best 10-touchdown season. His 2024 salary has him expected to earn around $13 million with only $2 million guaranteed. With contract talks ongoing, Sutton reiterated that he wants to remain with the Broncos.

“This is where I want to be. This is home,” Sutton said after practice on Tuesday. “This is where I want to go hoist the Lombardi Trophy. This is the place where I want to be able to retire. This is the place where I want to hopefully be able to put enough out once my career is done that I can hopefully be able to have a bid at the Broncos Ring of [Fame]. Those are all things that have to be earned, and hopefully, I'm able to have the time to be able to continue to showcase that I'm capable of being in that caliber of people.”

Prior to mandatory minicamp, Sutton held out of voluntary team workouts with the Broncos. He has been down in Florida rehabbing an offseason ankle surgery and working out. Despite sitting out voluntary workouts, Sutton says he never really considered a holdout during mandatory minicamp. In fact, rejoining his teammates is what he wanted most.

“I love the guys,” Sutton said. “To be able to come out here and watch practice and be around the guys — even just in stretch — and move around a little bit with them was so much fun. I enjoyed it to the fullest.”

Though he didn't take part in seven-on-seven or team drills, Sutton engaged in some individual drills as he continues to slowly make his way back from his ankle surgery.

“I had a really good rehab process, and [I'm] continuing to just get my body to where I want it to be at so that ultimately once September, October roll around, I'm where I need to be at so I can go out and perform.”

During his career with the Broncos, Sutton has had a myriad of different quarterbacks throwing him the ball. Also during his time in Denver, the Broncos have yet to make the playoffs. With the Broncos recently drafting Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, Sutton remains excited about the potential of the Broncos' quarterback room.

“That's a really good room right now,” Sutton said. “Those guys are out there competing really well. While I was away, I was able to watch some of the film and get to see the guys throw the ball around, and they all look really good. It's going to be a really fun training camp seeing guys go out there and compete. Whoever winds up emerging — if I'm blessed and lucky enough to be able to catch passes from them this upcoming season — … I think we're going to be able to do some special things.”
