The Dallas Cowboys are destroying the Washington Football Team on Sunday Night Football. They led 42-7 at halftime, which is tied for the most points the Cowboys have scored in a first half in franchise history.

Their defense has dominated the game, and picked off Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke a couple of times. One of the interceptions was returned for a touchdown.

There's plenty of reason for the Cowboys and their fans to be celebrating during this game. Dallas' defensive end Randy Gregory took that to the next level.

Midway through the first quarter, Heinicke threw an incomplete pass and was hit and taken to the ground. Gregory then rolled around up next to Heinicke and started talking to him.

Gregory and the Dallas defense are playing with a ton of confidence, and it shows on the field. Washington had just over 100 yards of offense in the first half.

Unlike previous seasons, it's been the Cowboys defense that has propelled them to be a Super Bowl contender this year. Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs intercepted his 11th pass of the season Sunday night. Standout rookie linebacker Micah Parsons picked up another sack. The Dallas defense has looked utterly dominant for a lot of the season.

The question had been whether Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense could also play at a high level. Sunday night, they are answering that question.

Dallas will climb within a game of the Green Bay Packers for the top seed in the NFC. If Dallas can win out and the Packers lose a game, the Cowboys would earn the top spot and only first round bye in the playoffs.
