The Dallas Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, 23-17 in the NFC Wild Card round. Despite being loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, the Cowboys season ended in disappointment once again.

Former Cowboys head coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Jimmy Johnson, expressed his feelings of sadness on Twitter, as he points out the familiarity of misfortune for the franchise.

After defeat, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott fell to 1-3 in the postseason over his six-year career. That's the same record of former Dallas quarterback Tony Romo through his first six seasons as well.

Tony Romo was a great quarterback for the Cowboys, but was highly criticized for coming up short in the postseason. A lot of that was unfounded, as Romo statistically was one of the best fourth quarter QB's during his era. He has the highest playoff quarterback rating all-time for players who have not reached a Super Bowl at 97.1. But Dallas always has championship expectations and Romo was unable to lead the Cowboys to even the NFC title game.

Dak Prescott thus far has shown all of the intangibles. He is believed to be a great leader, is smart with the football, and wins a lot of games. But his postseason resume is beginning to look a lot like Romo's. It's filled with individual success, but the team is yet to take that next step.

The Cowboys signed Dak Prescott to a massive, four-year $160 million contract. $126 million of that is guaranteed, so Prescott will surely have more opportunities to break the mold and return the Cowboys to glory.
