After a solid 2021 campaign that unfortunately ended in disappointment for the Dallas Cowboys, quarterback Dak Prescott will be looking to get even better this offseason and come back with a vengeance in 2022. However, the signal-caller just underwent a clean-up surgery on his left shoulder, per Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.

Via Ian Rapoport:

Certainly doesn't sound like a big deal, considering he's not expected to be hampered at all this offseason. It's also a positive that the procedure wasn't done on his throwing side.

The Cowboys crashed out of the first round in shocking fashion against the San Francisco 49ers due to a rather odd play where the clock ran out before Prescott could get a snap off in time. Many people blamed Dak for failing to know the rules because he handed the ball to his center instead of to the official, who needs to touch it before another play can be run.

Nevertheless, Dallas came up short. That being said, Prescott did show well in '21, completing 68.8% of his passes and throwing for almost 4,500 yards and 37 touchdowns, leading the Cowboys to a 12-5 record and an NFC East title. Following an early exit, Dak is going to be very motivated to be even better next season, and being at full strength, especially physically, is going to be very important in doing so. That's why this surgery was clearly necessary.
