The Philadelphia Eagles recently broke the news of a lucrative extension with quarterback Carson Wentz. News od the deal appeared to spark an interesting response from Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

Lawrence has seen a number of quarterbacks get paid this offseason. He let it be known that their worth only provides further motivation for him to sack them, via Twitter:

The richer they get, the better it feels when we humble they a**.

Lawrence's comments are telling of how some of these pass rushers feel about quarterbacks. This natural distaste for signal-callers undoubtedly gives them an extra edge, although it certainly helps that it has also become the richest position to play for non-quarterbacks in recent years. He is further proof of this notion after signing a five-year, $105 million contract with $65 million guaranteed this offseason.

Lawrence's tweet was undoubtedly in response to news of Wentz's new contract. Regardless, it is safe to assume that his comments go for every well-paid quarterback that he comes across moving forward. Of course, he may want to get started on breaking his dry spell against the Eagles. Despite establishing himself as one of the NFL's premier edge rushers in recent years, he still has yet to record a sack against Philadelphia. That could very well change now that the target on Wentz's back has grown bigger in his eyes.

Lawrence's contract negotiations may have gone on a bit longer than he would have ideally liked. Regardless, he will be looking to provide the Cowboys with plenty of bang for their buck by bringing down the league's richest quarterbacks.
