Dak Prescott is going to get paid. The Dallas Cowboys are going to make it happen. Some think that he will get paid, though.

On ESPN Radion, former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum said that he thinks Prescott will re-up with the Cowboys for $400 million over 10 years, per Jon Mochatta of The Athletic.

That number would be record-breaking. No NFL player has ever received a contract with a $40 million annual value. Some, notably Drew Bledsoe (who would briefly play in Dallas), have received 10-year deals; that's not foreign. Nobody has ever seen a contract worth $400 million.

Theoretically, the Cowboys can afford it. Prescott, whether he gets that deal or not, should sign a deal with at least $35 million per year — it's the going rate for young franchise quarterbacks. $40 million a year is not out of the realm of possibility.

Neither is the 10-year contract. The thought behind signing him on for $40 million per for 10 years would be that his contract would eventually be a good deal due to inflation. However, the only way that would happen is that he continues his success, which is unknown to be sustainable, being that he's played just four seasons.

Prescott has objectively played good football in 2019. He has passed for 4,122 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on a 65.5% completion rate, good for a 98.2 passer rating. At 26 years old, he may not be hitting his prime yet. But, is he, in your opinion, worth that $400 million, 10-year contract that Tannenbaum suggests? Leave your thoughts in the comment section.
