All signs are pointing to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott being ready to roll for the Week 1 showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 9. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed this on Sunday.

Jones said Prescott is “good to go” and “really turned it loose” in practice over the past week, according to Cowboys Senior Writer Rob Phillips.

This is great news as Prescott looks to make his triumphant return to the field. The Cowboys star suffered a season-ending injury in 2020, and then he suffered a shoulder injury at the start of training camp that has left him limited. He didn't play at all in the preseason.

But, now, it looks like he'll definitely be good to go against the defending champs. Whether or not he looks like his old self is another question entirely. Prescott had a monster 2019 campaign in which he nearly threw for 5,000 yards and was well on his way to breaking the 5,000-yard mark in 2020 before his ankle injury. He has set a high bar for himself.

Dallas needs Prescott to be back and playing at a high level in order to be a Super Bowl contender. The Cowboys went just 6-10 last season and missed the playoffs.
