Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has come out with a statement pertaining to his team's immediate plans for the quarterback position now that it has been confirmed that star QB Dak Prescott is set to miss the remainder of the season with a major ankle injury. According to the billionaire, the Cowboys are not looking to bring in a new quarterback via trade at the moment.

This report comes via Calvin Watkins of Dallas News:

The Cowboys already signed Andy Dalton as Prescott's replacement moving forward, and based on Jones' statement above, Dallas will ride out the rest of the campaign with Dalton at the helm.

To be fair to Dalton, he was able to complete 9-of-11 passes for 111 yards in the Cowboys' 37-34 victory over the San Francisco Giants. The 32-year-old came in to the game as Prescott was carted off in the third period, and Dalton did pretty well for himself, playing a key role in what turned out to be the game-winning drive towards the end of the contest. Dalton has been presented with a tremendous opportunity here, and he could turn out to be a pleasant surprise for Dallas.

Jones also mentioned Garrett Gilbert, who the Cowboys recently signed off of the Cleveland Browns' practice squad. The 29-year-old is not exactly a prime choice for the Cowboys, but he will now serve as Dalton's backup for the foreseeable future.

Following Sunday's win over the Giants, Dallas is now 2-3 to start the season. They will be back in action on Monday, as they face off against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.
