There has been plenty of speculation regarding quarterback Dak Prescott's ongoing contract situation. Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin feels his former team needs to get a deal done as soon as possible.

The Cowboys have been optimistic about them coming to terms on a long-term deal. According to Jori Epstein of USA Today, Irvin indicated that they must do what they can to keep Prescott around:

“Dolphins, Jaguars: They’ve been looking for a quarterback for almost 15-20 years. This ain’t easy to find. It’s not easy to find, and you don’t let one walk out the door if you got one.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Irvin's comments. Both the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars have been hindered by the lackluster quarterback play for quite some time now. Despite all the investments they made, they are still attempting to find a solution under center to help them compete for the playoffs.

There is no question that Prescott has enjoyed plenty of success as a starter in Dallas. Although he still has plenty of room to improve, he has proven to be a competent option and would undoubtedly serve as a stabilizing factor in the offense for years to come. The question now remains is how much Dallas is willing to pay to make it happen.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed quarterback Carson Wentz to a lucrative four-year, $128 million contract extension with $107 million guaranteed this offseason. This number will likely serve as a benchmark for any young quarterback looking to get paid moving forward. It will be interesting to see if they heed Irvin's advice.
