Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is the king of using specific situations, ideology, and phrases to his benefit. That is, you know, when it is only to his benefit.

Despite the entire Greg Hardy situation, in which Dallas was the only team willing to take him on, Jerry Jones is claiming he — and the Cowboys by extension — has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to domestic abuse. Of course, he just wants “all the facts” and stuff, as he's currently claiming Ezekiel Elliott is a victim of the NFL abusing its power.

Here he is discussing the Elliott situation:

“Make no mistake about it, there is zero tolerance, complete zero tolerance by me and by the Cowboys about domestic violence,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “Complete zero tolerance. I know the complete facts as it’s presented of anything the NFL knows about. And he is not being treated fairly.”

I don't think Jones actually realizes what zero tolerance means.

Greg Hardy, who showed zero remorse for any of his issues, was given a chance by the Cowboys. Not because he was a victim of the NFL's power, as Jones alleges Elliott is, but due to the fact he was an elite pass-rusher. That's not a zero tolerance policy on domestic violence. That is having tolerance for whatever, as long as it benefits you personally.

Anyway, while no one yet knows what will happen with the Elliott suspension dilly, we do know that Jones is willing to stretch his truth to fit whatever narrative he is trying to sell at the moment.

Right now, he's trying to sell that the NFL is the big bad evil-doers who are doing one of his guys wrong.
