With Dak Prescott missing the Dallas Cowboys' Sunday night tilt against the Minnesota Vikings, fans were expecting a sub-optimal performance from America's team. What they saw, though, was the Cooper Rush show, as the undrafted quarterback played his heart out and steered the Cowboys to a big 20 – 16 win over the Vikings.

After the game, Prescott spoke at length about the Cowboys' unlikely hero. The star QB had this to say about his replacement: (via Rob Phillips)

“That’s Coop. He’s very mild tempered and always that way, never too high or too low. It showed tonight. It allowed him to stay in there, stick to it, stick through some bad plays and come out and make some great plays to win the game that we needed in 4th quarter.”

It was an absolutely marvelous debut from Cooper Rush, who hasn't thrown an NFL pass since 2017. He completed 24 of 40 passes for a total of 325 yards, including two touchdowns and only one interception. The Cowboys made sure that Rush's heroics wouldn't be in vain, as they did their best to support their backup quarterback in the most critical possessions.

The Cowboys receivers were incredibly impressed by their QB's poise and composure. CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper both had high praises for Rush after the game:

“I’m proud of him,” said Lamb. “You don’t want to be in a two-minute situation, away, here, because it was loud, you have a lot of drums, horns, fans going crazy. I wouldn’t say everything went as planned, but we got the plays we needed when it counted.”

“Trust the matchups on the outside. These guys can’t guard us,” said Cooper on his message to the Cowboys QB for the game. “We’re confident. I think we know we can overcome anything.”

Will Dak Prescott miss more time for the Cowboys? Who knows, but the star quarterback can rest easy knowing that Cooper Rush has got this team while he fully recovers.
