Detroit Lions nose tackle Damon ‘Snacks' Harrison has two years remaining on his contract, but the Lions could cut him without having a lot of dead salary-cap space. The Lions started their offseason workout program this week and one guy noticeably absent is Harrison, according to Kyle Meinke of MLive.com and there is some thought that he might be holding out for a new contract.

Lions' general manager Bob Quinn was asked at the end of March about a new contract for Harrison and at that time he said that he was focused on the draft but might turn his attention to that in May or June.

“My priority right now is the draft,” Quinn said, via MLive.com. “We got another month or so before the draft is here, so that is something that we’ll probably talk about in May or June.”

Harrison came over to the Lions via trade from the New York Giants last season and right away the team saw an improvement in the run game. He is 30 years old right now, and by the time his contract is over he will be 32 and that could give the team some pause in extending him past this contract.

The other thing that needs to be remembered is that these are the voluntary offseason workouts and there are many players, even guys like Tom Brady that don't show up.

The time that it could get concerning if Harrison hasn't shown up is the mandatory OTA's and that is where the team could start fining him for missing it.
