The talk of the town within the San Francisco 49ers as of late has continued to revolve around the future of Deebo Samuel with the team.

Samuel reportedly requested a trade from the 49ers in April. While he has been linked with teams such as the New York Jets, the 49ers have remained stern in their ambition to keep him on the roster for the 2022 season.

Many have taken a side in this dilemma between Samuel and the 49ers. For Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens, he continues to issue his support to the one-time Pro Bowl wide receiver.

Owens noted last month that he has touched base with Samuel about this matter, and that the 49ers “should be wanting to pay this guy what he's worth.”

The former 49ers wideout once again made public remarks backing Samuel. At the annual Dwight Clark Legacy Series event this past week, Owens added that the all-around wideout is simply in an “unfortunate” situation.

“Obviously it’s unfortunate for him to be in the situation he’s in right now, with management,” Owens said. “But you see an explosive playmaker. You see a player that makes plays anywhere on the field. Those types of players are hard to come by.

“If you don’t have a Deebo Samuel on this team, they don’t get to where they got to (NFC Championship game). You talk about players that make an impact and are game-changers, he’s one of those guys.”

Samuel did not feature for the 49ers over their opening two weeks of OTAs, and it is currently up in the air as to whether he will show up for any of their remaining offseason workout programs.

The wait continues on just how this dilemma between 49ers team officials and Samuel will be resolved.
