Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa made arguably the most boneheaded decision of this MLB season on Thursday when he mind-bogglingly decided to intentionally walk Trea Turner in a 1-2 count with two outs in the inning. After perplexingly putting Turner on base, Max Muncy came to the plate and served up a sweet dish of karma, parking a ball into the seats for a three-run home run. While celebrating his home run, Muncy couldn't help but utter some NSFW comments about La Russa's decision to walk Turner.

It doesn't take a professional lip reader to figure out what Muncy is saying here, delivering a savage message to La Russa while dapping up his teammates after extending the Dodgers' lead. Not even Muncy himself could believe a manager would walk any batter in a two-strike count, especially with two outs in a close game.

La Russa was hoping that avoiding Turner would enable the White Sox to get the “easy out” on Muncy, whose struggles for the Dodgers have been clear to see in the 2022 regular season. While that may not have been the worst idea from La Russa, pulling the trigger on the intentional walk with two strikes and two outs in an inning has to go down among these most senseless baseball decisions ever.

It seems Muncy took his decision to send Turner to first base in that situation personally, as he sent that baseball into the seats in a hurry. Muncy entered the game with just 3 home runs and a .150 batting average, something La Russa was clearly trying to take advantage of. His plan backfired, however, and the Dodgers star ended up getting the last laugh. Hopefully, this will be a turning point for the Dodgers' slugger who has hit 35+ home runs in three of the last four seasons.
