There were reports that the Miami Dolphins were parting ways with Chan Gailey as their offensive coordinator that surfaced on Monday. Despite the reports that floated around social media, they were proven to be untrue due to ESPN falling for a fake Adam Schefter tweet.

The article saying that Gailey was ousted by the Dolphins was on ESPN's site for roughly 20 minutes before they took it down. In addition, ESPN made a correction to the error they made while apologizing for being duped by a fake account.

Gailey just completed his first season as the offensive coordinator of the Dolphins following his three-year retirement from the NFL. Of course, Gailey was tasked with helping to develop Tua Tagovailoa while simultaneously making the decision alongside Brian Flores to insert Ryan Fitzpatrick in certain moments.

However, in the regular-season finale against the Buffalo Bills, Miami didn't have Fitzpatrick available due to COVID-19 protocols. As a result, Tagovailoa would struggle, throwing three interceptions as the Dolphins would fall short of making the playoffs.

The fake Schefter account likely used Miami's struggles on offense in the final game of the season to create a counterfeit story. With that being said, seeing that Gailey is 68 years old, it remains to be seen if he does choose to return to the Dolphins next season.

At the same time, Miami may discuss the possibility of parting ways with Gailey sometime during the offseason. But for the time being, Gailey remains as the offensive coordinator of the Dolphins and ESPN should probably be careful trusting fake Schefter accounts moving forward.
