Heading into the NFL offseason, the Miami Dolphins with have a few crucial decisions to make concerning their star wide receiver Jarvis Landry who is set to become a free agent.

According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, the 25-year-old has voiced mixed feelings about how things will transpire with his contract situation.

“I’ve got so many mixed emotions,” Landry said. “I am at peace. I understand the situation. Regardless of if I am a Dolphin next year or not, my hard work will pay off.”

Landry is headed toward a massive payday this upcoming offseason, especially after putting together arguably his best season where he posted a career-high 112 receptions for 987 receiving yards along with a career-best nine touchdowns. He also set the franchise mark for most catches in a single season, which topped the previous mark he set back 2015 with 110 receptions.

This high level of production helped him earn his third straight Pro Bowl nod, which made him the fourth player in Dolphins history to get Pro Bowl selections in at least three consecutive seasons, joining Paul Warfield, Mark Duper, and Mark Clayton. He is also one of just eight receivers in team history to earn a Pro Bowl selection, and also set the NFL mark with 400 catches over his first four years.

The Dolphins have a few options available to them in this contract situation with Landry, which they could go the route of placing the franchise tag on him for the 2018 season that will be worth nearly $16 million. The team could also use that as a basis for working out a new long-term deal. This would also give them a longer deadline to work with on through July 16 at 4 p.m. ET. They can place this designation at any point between Feb. 20 to March 6.

At that same token, there is a growing sentiment that Miami could move on from him if the contract negotiation process becomes difficult in any manner.  If anything, it's clear that it is still a fluid situation at this point.
