It's the end of an era for the Miami Dolphins, as the organization had just shockingly fired head coach Brian Flores, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Dolphins would later release an official statement about Flores' exit from Miami. According to the announcement, team owner Stephen Ross decided to sack Flores, saying that “After evaluating where we are as an organization and what we need going forward to improve, I determined that key dynamics of our football organization weren't functioning at a level I want it to be and felt that his decision was in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins.”

Moreover, it seems that Flores' disconnect with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and general manager Chris Grier was a key factor to Ross' decision, per Jeff Darlington of ESPN.

Although the Dolphins failed to clinch a spot in the playoffs, a fate that was ascertained when they lost to the Tennessee Titans in Week 17, the franchise improved under Flores, at least in terms of winning. The Dolphins went over .500 in each of his last two seasons with the team, steering Miami to a 10-6 record in 2020 before taking a step back with a 9-8 finish in 2021.

In his last game as head coach of the Dolphins, Flores managed to score a victory, beating the New England Patriots at home in Week 18, 33-24.

Needless to say, the search for a new head coach is among the top priorities of the Dolphins in the offseason.
