Miami Dolphins veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick made history on Sunday in the AFC East club's Week 13 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Harvard product became the first player in NFL history to throw a touchdown against a single opponent for seven different franchises, per NFL Research on Twitter.

Fitzpatrick, 37, joined the Dolphins in the past offseason after a two-season stint with Florida neighbor Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has started in eight games for Miami, throwing over 1,900 yards on 62 percent completion rate, 10 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions entering Sunday's tilt with Philadelphia and going 2-8 in that span. Fitzpatrick controversially replaced second-year gunslinger Josh Rosen, who the Dolphins traded for after the Arizona Cardinals selected Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

A journeyman signal-caller his entire career, Fitzpatrick hasn't stayed with a single team for more than four seasons, with his longest tenure coming in 2009-12 with the Buffalo Bills. Fitzpatrick was a seventh-round selection of the St. Louis Rams in the 2005 draft. Despite the lack of accolades and small trophy shelf for Fitzpatrick, the biggest compliment can be made about his longevity, staying into the league well into his 30's as either a backup or starting quarterback without the track record of winning many ball games.

Today's milestone is emblematic of Fitzpatrick's longevity in the NFL, with touchdown passes for seven difference teams against the Eagles. Fitzpatrick threw a 43-yard touchdown reception going DeVante Parker's way for the historic feat.

The Dolphins later took the lead against the Eagles but on a touchdown throw from punter Matt Haack.
