Since Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores was an assistant coach for the New England Patriots just two seasons ago, it makes sense that he is familiar with the roster.

Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, several members of the Patriots 2019 squad have caught the eye of Flores and the Dolphins organization as a whole.

The Dolphins reportedly hold Patriots offensive guard Joe Thuney in high regard as well as center Ted Karras and safety Devin McCourty. Former Patriot and current Tennessee Titans cornerback Logan Ryan is also included among the players that Miami is reportedly interested in.

It seems that the secondary and offensive line are key areas that the Dolphins are hoping to improve this offseason.

Karras and Thuney combined to start 31 of New England's 32 regular-season games this season while the Patriots ranked seventh-best in the NFL in terms of sacks allowed in 2019.

On the other hand, Miami's 58 sacks allowed last season was the worst mark in the entire league.

As for McCourty, the two-time Pro Bowler has spent all 10 seasons of his career in New England. The 32-year-old defensive back recorded 58 tackles, seven passes defended, five interceptions and two forced fumbles in 2019

Like the offensive line, the Dolphins secondary performed poorly last season. Miami surrendered 39 passing touchdowns last year which again, was the worst mark in the NFL.

All in all, it seems like Flores is making a concentrated effort to improve his team's biggest weaknesses while pursuing players he is familiar with from his time in New England.
