Veteran defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh could be wearing a different uniform in 2018. According to a lengthy report by Jason La Canfora of CBS, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross's people had disclosed to him before that the Dolphins were willing to have a split with Suh.

Confidants of owner Stephen Ross told me during the season that the owner was ready to move on from defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, set to count a staggering $26 million against the cap. Does he have a change of heart now? Are the Dolphins buyers, or more like sellers? Teams have been interested in acquiring veteran pass rusher Cam Wake for years. I'd expect other teams to feel out the Dolphins at the combine. Maybe Miami rides things out, staying largely status quo, but if they don't they could be at the nexus of several big transactions.

A season removed from making the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in his career, Ndamukong Suh only had 29 tackles in 2017, way fewer than the 41 he had in 2016. That being said, he played 16 games for the sixth straight season, and was still graded as elite by Pro Football Focus, so even if he gets released by the Dolphins, there will certainly be plenty of teams knocking at his doorstep.

As mentioned by La Canfora, Suh’s salary in 2018 will count hard against the Dolphins’ salary cap, and if Miami is looking to rebuild, then jettisoning the 31-year-old Suh from the team is one way to start the process. The NFL season is its early phases, however, and it's possible that Suh's partnership with Miami will continue in 2018.
