The Philadelphia Eagles head into Week 2 action against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with several notable players dealing with injuries that have put their statuses up in the air. According to Adam Caplan of Sirius XM Radio, the Eagles have declared wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and running back Darren Sproles out against the Buccaneers.

The decision to sit Jeffery this week was expected given that the team voiced he was still a couple weeks away from returning to the field. He has picked up his level of activity on the practice field that had seen him catch some balls from Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz. There is a building sense that both are getting quite close to being able to play, as the Eagles are likely taking the precautionary approach with their respective situations.

The absence of Jeffery has shifted the workload in the passing game over to wide receiver Nelson Agholor and Mike Wallace along with Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz. Quarterback Nick Foles struggled to throw the ball in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons that didn't see any other wide receivers outside of Agholor be factors. This could change a bit with the Eagles looking to get more of their offensive weapons involved in the game plan in Tampa.

Sproles played against the Falcons, rushing for 10 yards on five carries while making five catches for 22 receiving yards. However, he has been limited by a hamstring injury throughout the week that hasn't allowed him to participate in practice. This is an injury that could linger on if not handled correctly, which is likely why the team is deciding to sit him at least for this week's game. This should shift his workload over Corey Clement as the primary backup to Jay Ajayi.

As it stands with Jeffery and Sproles out Sunday, Philadelphia is still a 3-point road favorite over Tampa Bay according to BetOnline.ag. To place a bet on the game or any others, click here and use promo code CLUTCH50 for a 50% Welcome Bonus when you signup with BetOnline.ag!
