Injuries continue to pile up for the Philadelphia Eagles in the middle of training camp proceedings this time with quarterback Carson Wentz. The North Dakota State product is being monitored on a day-to-day basis after sustaining a minor soft tissue injury.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport tweeted the details regarding Wentz's injury situation:

Carson Wentz has been the Eagles' primary playmaker ever since the team drafted him with the 2nd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. His most productive season came in 2017 when he bagged a Pro Bowl appearance along with a second-team All-Pro selection capped off with a Super Bowl LII ring.

He had a fruitful campaign last season as he recorded a career-high in passing yards with 4,039 and pass completions with 388. He tied his career-best tally of 607 passing attempts as well. The five-year veteran also played through all 16 games for the first time since his rookie season.

His applaudable performance led the Eagles to escape with the NFC East division title with a 9-7 record. Their tally puts them a game ahead of second-placer Dallas Cowboys who trailed with an 8-8 showing.

Despite the regular-season success, Wentz failed to power the Eagles to a deep run in the 2019 NFL playoffs. He prematurely left the NFC Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks with a head injury sustained from defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. He was eventually ruled out of the game with a concussion after playing just nine snaps in his post-season debut. The Eagles were eventually sacked by the Seattle Seahawks via a 17-9 loss at their home turf.

Rookie Jalen Hurts and five-year veteran Nate Sudfeld will be filling in his spot in lieu of his absence. The Eagles hope that their quarterback won't be out for long as the team already saw a couple of their linemen sustain season-ending injuries during training camp.

Wentz will continue to be a pivotal player for the Eagles as the team's success will ultimately rely on his level of productivity playing under center.
