The Philadelphia Eagles' backfield has been battered by injuries over the last couple of weeks that have put them in a tough spot

It appears it will be the case heading in Week 4 for veteran running back Darren Sproles still dealing with hamstring issues that will keep him off the field against the Tennessee Titans, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.

“We tested Darren this week, and he's not there yet,” Pederson said. “He's getting close with that hamstring.”

Sproles has had much difficulty getting past the hamstring issue over the last few weeks that has already forced him to miss Week action against the Indianapolis Colts. These problems have continued on through this week that has put him on the sideline once again and left the Eagles without a key weapon out of the backfield that has is a versatile option showing effectiveness as a factor in both the running and passing game throughout his career.

However, Sproles has struggled with his health this year with a nagging injury over the last couple of weeks. He was also limited to just 10 rushing yards on five attempts with four catches for 22 receiving yards so far this season. The Eagles may have a crowded stable of running backs, but Sproles has played a key part with his ability to bring another element to the offense behind his speed and playmaking ability.

Philadelphia should get somewhat of boost with Jay Ajayi expected to push to make his return despite dealing with a back fracture. He has been their workhorse running back this year that has been an effective option in the red zone. If both Sproles and Ajayi are out once again, the Eagles will turn to second-year tailback Corey Clement to step in to handle the starting duties.
