Fletcher Cox is on the road toward recovery. After video surfaced over the weekend of the Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman riding a push scooter, ESPN's Tim McManus reports that Cox underwent surgery on his right foot earlier this offseason and is currently going through the process of a successful recovery.

Eagles DT Fletcher Cox had surgery on his right foot following the season and is in the midst of recovery,” McManus posted on twitter Monday morning. “An image of him in a walking boot riding a scooter emerged on social media over the weekend. He's already off the scooter. All part of the protocol from what I understand. The expectation is he should be fine for training camp. Cox injured the foot in the Eagles' divisional round playoff loss to the saints.

The 28 year old first suffered the injury during Philadelphia's divisional-round loss to the New Orleans Saints in the 2019 playoffs. He left the game initially, but returned shortly thereafter to play through significant pain. The day after the Eagles' season ended, Cox was seen at the team facility wearing a walking boot.

The 2012 first-round pick made his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl and fourth All-Pro Team last season, being named First-Team All-Pro for the first time in his career.

He finished with 46 tackles and career-highs of 10 and-a-half sacks, 34 quarterback hits, and 12 tackles for loss, leading a Philadelphia defense that ranked 12th in points per game allowed.

Cox signed a six-year, $103 million contract with the Eagles in 2016.

He re-structured his existing deal last fall, freeing up over $11 million worth of cap space to work with this offseason and going forward in 2019.
