The Philadelphia Eagles arguably got the steal of the 2022 NFL Draft when they selected Nakobe Dean. The star linebacker from Georgia fell to the 83rd overall pick due to a shoulder injury that he decided not to have an operation for. Philadelphia wasn't scared, though, and added a potential star to their roster.

Dean tallied 72 tackles, 6.0 sacks, five defended passes and two forced fumbles in 15 games in his final season with Georgia. After having such a great collegiate career that ended with a national championship, falling to the third round will sit with him. According to Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, Dean said that falling so far in the draft will be a source of motivation for him.

“It's definitely something that will stick with me,” Dean said at Eagles rookie minicamp Friday. “It's not my primary or secondary source of motivation, but it's definitely something that will stick with me throughout my playing career.”

Fortunately for the Eagles, Dean is healthy enough to participate fully in practice. The Georgia standout could be a massive piece for the Philly defense. He will be teaming up with teammate Jordan Davis, a defensive tackle that the Eagles picked 13th overall, and a solid defensive unit that features Darius Slay, Javon Hargrave, Josh Sweat and Haason Reddick.

The Eagles are back in playoff contention after trading Carson Wentz and could be even better next season. Adding Dean, Reddick, Davis and A.J. Brown to a nine-win team should make the Eagles the favorites to win the NFC East.
