Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman strongly asserted the franchise's belief in quarterback Carson Wentz on Thursday.

Roseman said the team is “married” to Wentz as the face of the franchise during an appearance on the RapSheet + Friends podcast.

The comments come shortly after the Eagles selected former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, though they will likely use Hurts' explosive athleticism and line him up all over the field and in special teams.

Some fans were surprised the Eagles decided to select Hurts in the second round rather than attempting to add another wide receiver. However, this should hardly be seen as an indictment against Wentz as a quarterback.

The Eagles signed Wentz to a four-year, $128 million contract last June, and he played well despite a near-total shortage of receiving options.

Wentz threw for over 4,000 yards and 27 touchdowns against just seven interceptions while leading the Eagles to the NFC East title. He did so in spite of DeSean Jackson playing essentially one game and Alshon Jeffery missing six games.

For all the skepticism about what drafting Hurts means for Wentz and the Eagles, Roseman did make his priorities clear when he drafted TCU wideout Jalen Reagor in the first round. Roseman would select two more receivers, though both came later in the draft.

While injuries will always seem to be a bit of a question mark with respect to Wentz and his future, he is among the most talented players at the quarterback position.

Eagles fans do not need to worry about any perceived “quarterback controversy,” because Wentz has management's full support.
