In the 2017 season, Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz experienced a significant leap forward in his progression putting up an MVP-caliber campaign prior to suffering a torn ACL and LCL.

This has earned him the recognition and praise from his peers around the league voted him third-best player in the NFL this past season. However, Jacksonville Jaguars star cornerback Jalen Ramsey isn't exactly sold on Wentz being regarded as a top-three player in the NFL (Jeff Kerr of 247 Sports).

I'm not sold on it yet,” Ramsey said on the NFL Network's Top-100 reaction show. “Top 10, I would be cool with him being at top 10.”

“So what does that say about the rest of the team around him, all the guys around him? Does that mean those are really the guys who elevated his play maybe? I mean Nick Foles won Super Bowl MVP. He won the Super Bowl as the backup quarterback. That's gotta take a little bit away from Wentz.”

There is some credence to what Ramsey is stating as the Eagles were able to ride backup Nick Foles all the way to a Super Bowl win. Granted, Foles played phenomenally well it does point to the great amount of talent the franchise has offensively around the quarterback position.

It isn't a slight to Wentz in any manner from Ramsey but more that he isn't a top-three player in the league just yet as there are other proven talents at the position such as Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and even Russell Wilson that were ranked just below him. There is a track record of success for each of these other quarterbacks that could put them above him.

That said, this upcoming season could be an opportunity to cement his status as one of the top quarterbacks in the league with another impressive campaign while proving he can lead them to a Super Bowl behind his play in the playoffs.
